I was in junior high school (this is before our district changed over to the middle school system) – and was waiting to be picked up with a giant crowd of other kids. When mother dearest mentioned Cardinal Ratzinger had been elected pope, I shouted “HABEMUS PAPAM” to everyone out of the car window. That was the first in a series of countless blank stares I would come to receive.
